Where To Learn Web3 ? - A Complete Guide

If you are a developer then Web3 hype might have caught your attention. And some of you (probably all of you XD) might already want to switch to this space. Probably the eagerness you have is either because of the highly paid jobs in this space or the god damn adventure you can experience in this space. Everything is new you know ๐Ÿ˜‰

But where to start you ask? Don't worry, I got your back pal! I know you feel restless, so without any ado, let's get into our article.

Introduction

Two years back when I first came across blockchain technology the resources were really less. It was just the documentation!

Back then we did our final year project based on blockchain technology using Hyperledger (it was a voting web app on blockchain). We struggled a lot on that but it was fun XD. But now we have a lot of resources(comparatively).

In this article, I will be sharing a curated list of resources that will be helpful for you!

Roadmaps ๐Ÿ—บ

Now if you search for Web3 roadmaps you will be getting some results. I have seen many roadmaps but the ones by Oliver Jumpertz and Vitto really caught my eyes.

It may feel overwhelming at one look. Don't feel disheartened if you don't know anything written in these roadmaps. These roadmaps are for total beginners. You can start from scratch.

And don't EVER... EVER compare your progress with someone else's

You are unique and the time required for you to grasp concepts may be different from others. If you really want to compare then compare yourself with your yesterdays self. If you learned something new then you are on the right track. Keep pushing!

Once you select any roadmap to follow, just stick with it. Don't get distracted by other roadmaps. Switching between roadmaps frequently will just waste your time. It's not worth it.

Youtube channels ๐Ÿ“ฝ

On YouTube, you will see a lot of resources for learning Web3. You can find tutorials, theories, talks, views, projects, and whatnot. It's a free resource so utilize it to the max. There are some excellent Web3 courses at Udemy too.

Watching tutorials and learning is all good but beware of the tutorial hell. Don't just blindly follow the tutorials. Practice what you have learned. Try to make changes in the code, integrate your own functionalities to it, just play around with the code.

Top YouTube channels for learning Blockchain & Web3 development:

DAOs ๐Ÿ”‹

Join the communities. That's the best way to learn. When you are surrounded by like-minded people you will automatically be accountable and will reach your goals. DAOs are Decentralized Autonomous Organizations.

It's like a real-world community with shared goals with tokens for governance and incentives. In simpler terms just see it like a community-owned organization where your voice matters a lot. I won't be going deep into DAOs, we can discuss that in a later article.

communitites

For now, go ahead and check out these amazing communities.

Get involved, network, learn together, and have fun!

Hackathons ๐Ÿ›

There is no better way to learn than by doing! And hackathons are the best way for that. You not only learn new things, but you will also be able to make new friends, make valuable connections, meet potential employers or even get a job offer!

What else do you need? By the way, you will be getting cool swags too. But please don't take that as the motivation to participate in these events. Your motivation should be building products and meeting like-minded people.

lets build

It's hella lot of fun!

Just get out there and experience it. At least give it a try once, you won't regret it, believe me.

Tech Twitter Spaces ๐Ÿฅณ

You all are familiar with Twitter. It's a cool social media platform. But Tech Twitter is cooler! Don't get confused with the name and think it's an actual group or you need to follow some kinda steps to be a part of it. If you are interested in technology then you are already a part of it. It just refers to the Twitter community who have an interest in technology.

You can meet a lot of cool people here. I suggest doing 'learning in public' or 'building in public'. Just tweet about your learnings and what you are building. Let the people know about it. You will be amazed by the encouragement you will get.

Twitter spaces are where live audio conversation happens. So now you might already know what is Tech Twitter space. It's a space where people talk about technology. For starters join these spaces, especially those that talk about Web3, blockchain, NFTs, Women in Tech, etc. Listen to the conversations and learn what the jargons that are used in this space are, what all are the new chains, protocols, NFTs, etc.

Don't get overwhelmed by all these. If you feel like it, no worries, you are not alone. I too feel the same. Once you have a decent base about the technology and able to build dApps you can start speaking up in these spaces introducing yourself as a developer. I will be doing the same once I get a hold of the basics. This will open a lot more doors for you!

Learning by Earning ๐Ÿค‘๐Ÿ’ฒ

Saved the best part for last! I'm not joking here. Seriously you can earn by learning in this space. And the best part is you don't have to be a professional developer and you don't have to leave your job either.

Experiment, learn and earn! - These are not my words, it's the one and only Vitto's, one of the GOATs of this space!

Other Resources ๐Ÿ”ฐ

I did come across some more amazing resources.

Conclusion

Learning alone is tough, so try to get into a community and learn together. It can bring wonders! All these resources I have shared here are the ones I found useful myself. And please don't take my word for it and go and try to check out every single resource I have shared here.

Go through them, pick any one of the roadmaps, follow it through. Get into all the communities but try to focus on any one of them.

Don't forget about Tech Twitter. Damn this is one of my favorites. You will find a lot of friends and opportunities here. Twitter is the new LinkedIn for Web3 XD.

If you are gonna learn Web3 please consider getting into the #100DaysOfWeb3 challenge. Do tweet about it and tag me. I will be there to encourage you and am more than happy to meet like-minded folks like you. I started mine a few weeks back
